I was sitting at my desk, playing with some photos I took of the deer who had come to have supper on the hill across from us, when I noticed-- out my study window--
some gorgeous sunlight contrasting with gathering storm clouds. Grabbed the camera and went out on the deck to snap these.

And this is one of the three deer who were having supper (it's the South) across the street when Snowy and I returned from our 5 o'clock walk.

(31,392 posts)First time I noticed it, by the time I was out the door with the camera, it was gone. But, about 10 minutes later, it was back and stayed long enough
to get some shots.

(19,459 posts)I especially like #'s 3 & 4. And that deer is beautifully composed. Is he in velvet? Looks like he's missing part of a horn.

It was a challenge shooting these guys. Lots of trees and small undergrowth on this hill. The street level--where I was standing--- is below where the deer were foraging. They are really tame.
When Snowy and I walk by, they just look at her. Don't run. She would love nothing more than to be let off leash so she could chase them, but it's not safe because
we really are right in town. You'd never know it from some of the photos I take. It looks like we're living way out in the woods, but it's just a 5 minute
walk to Franklin Street--the main 4 lane road--that runs up to the center of town and the university campus. We are at the end of a dead end street, so there is very little traffic, but
it's not far to get off our street to lots more traffic.
Here's a close-up of him where the antlers are more visible

(19,459 posts)And I know what you mean about the false impression that images can give. Still, it looks like you live in a pretty nice area.
