An ancient volcano explosion created 365 islands on the large Lake Nicaragua near Granada. Homes were built along the shores and on various islands along with restaurants, a school, and everything else they need. People use boats to get around. The children even take rowboats to school.

I have never been there but I have seen buildings in that architectural style in the US... now I will have think about where that was.

Sounds like a nice place to go for a vacation.

That's not to say there aren't nice things in Nicaragua, but it's a bit less tourist friendly.
