I'm an amateur stonemason, or was until my back reminded me how old I am, so I adore stonework. But I agree with you; they got a little carried away. Interior stonework needs textiles, or something soft to balance it, otherwise it will start to look and feel like a dungeon. The outdoor stuff is gorgeous!

But up close, there are problems. There's a low spot on one of the balconies, and the water sits there rather than flowing to the drain. One of my contractors and I are try to come up with a creative solution that doesn't involve tearing up all the tile on the balcony. By the way, the overall look of the place is faux chateau.

I really like that last shot of the wall with the plant texture/color and pattern of the stones.

Very nice!

It's tricky though. The city water is really expensive. All that stucco, stone, tile makes for a very hot area in summer, and yet, because of the orientation of the house, it gets no sun in the winter.

but these are exceptional! That second one looks like an M. C. Escher work of art.

This house is sort of a two-story house, but it has seven different levels. It's entirely possible that Escher had a hand in its design.
