Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket...

I have been traveling down to my friend's house in Idaho the past couple months to check on it regularly which takes me through about forty miles of the most awesome landscape with equally awesome wildlife. It really feels like "cheating" for some reason.

Though the light was harsh in the mid afternoon I had to stop when I saw those two moose again yesterday from a closer position, here are some that I have reviewed so far...

The two yo... she was blowing bubbles and posing on the other side of the river

While the very pregnant mom was about fifty feet away on the other side of a four foot deep plane of snow between the road and the river's edge

It was a good day.

I'll do that!

I must say, I have rarely been able to get pictures of moose for some reason, these two have just been so "available" during my runs over the pass that I just couldn't pass up the opportunity and it was well worth it. I never go anywhere without the camera and binos... both 10x42. I don't recall ever getting shots like this of moose.

I think that's an April thing but I'm not really sure about that, could be later on when the other large ungulates are calving. I'll have to check on that. This cow seems to frequent this location and it's close to the highway.

We saw several from the train yesterday, but, of course, I couldn't get a good shot as they were moving and so were we.

they're too far away, no place to pull over safely, the light's funky - like sun on the snow...

crop out most of the snow because it throws off the rest of the lighting when using the rudimentary editing tools I have available. That and glare on the water. I have one that's focused on the two swans in the background but the sun was so strong that I had a hard time toning it down with the camera and in editing.

I must say that I was so surprised to have this vantage point that my heart was pounding, I had a few blurry shots that have been deleted!
