(19,459 posts)I posted a couple to Flickr and used the Kodak ISO 32 Panatomic X, which is one I like very much in emulation. I know practically nothing about actual film; it's been many years since I last used a film camera, and I didn't know much about it even then.

(60,077 posts)I like some of the Ilford emulations. Ilford film is very good.
Don't forget the color filters.
BTW, I used an old Russian lens, the Industar 50-2 50mm 3.5
the hood is an essential addition.

As far as filters go...I have an original E.S. Curtis platinum print that I inherited from my Grandfather. My Great-Grandfather was a miner who went up to the Klondike for a couple of years during the gold rush of 1897-98, and left his wife and kids in Seattle during that time. Curtis was partners in a studio there, and my Grandpa was apparently a fan. The family has six of them, plus several family member portrait shots.
Anyway, that platinum print (which is relatively unusual as Curtis did much of his work in goldtone) is gorgeous, and I would love to be able to reproduce it. Some silver balance/paper combos get sorta close, but it's not the same.
