It was a gorgeous although cold and somewhat fruitless day. I got up early and headed for the coast. I decided to go down 101, cut over to Bolinas, shoot das boot, and drive back up the coast to Goat Rock to catch some waves and maybe seals.
Well, I guess CA figures everyone has GPS these days. I never saw a single sign that would head me toward the coast. Honest, they used to be there. I finally got off at Sir Francis Drake Blvd, figuring it was a good shot to get to Drake's Bay. I would be wrong about that. A little jigging and jogging finally got me headed to the coast, although waaay south of where i wanted to go.
I actually stumbled on das boot by accident because it wasn't where I thought it would be. So, here it is.
And the little seen port side. I came prepared to get to that side, wearing my Wellies, but almost lost them in the soft muck.
I continued on through Inverness to Point Reyes, but there were so many people, I simply turned around and returned to Hwy 1. I suppose the good news is there were multitudes of non-couch potatoes out in the fine weather with friends and family hiking rather than glued to the tube watching football.
I made it to Goat Rock and couldn't find a parking spot. I mean really, Ive been there in high tourist season and not seen that many people. Yep, turned around, drove home and became a couch potato statistic, sans football.

(86,779 posts)I like spooky old boat carcasses, being from the coast of New England and all.
Worth the trouble I would say. You got some worthwhile shots.
