But then they have to cross major roads to get from one side of the forest to the other.

It's the same seven animals, and I wonder if they have formed a separate unit from the larger pack.

I have quite an affection for horses... especially wild ones, not sure why.

We have them out in the west in many places, it feels kind of magical to see them. Some close friends were out on a wildlife preserve a couple years ago and decided to go for a hike. They didn't know the mustangs were around until they were out in a narrowing meadow. The horses weren't amused and challenged them and chased them off, it was very frightening for my friends. I see them with the same cautious sense I would with a bear since then.

But I still also see them as beautiful.

and, like you said, to give them the same caution I'd give a bear - because they are wild and they could easily kill me.

Still, they are beautiful. I agree.

I was so happy they got as close as they did to the house.
