(19,459 posts)I did one in b&w too, which I like, but this one is better.
I'm working on trying to correct the distortion in these shots. Not totally successful.

(19,459 posts)I know we try to keep to 800 in the longest edge, but this one needed a bit more.

(19,459 posts)The sunset was gorgeous over the Salton Sea, but my wide angle was all I had with me and I couldn't get close enough to the shore for a good shot, even though we drove round the whole lake.
Darned diabetic neuropathy, makes it too hard to walk far sometimes.

But I made some adjustments in Lightroom, and there are filter adjustments there. The saturation is boosted, and there were the usual adjustments for exposure, etc. I also added some depth where the canal disappears on the horizon. And I used a Neutral Density filter from the program to bring out the sky, and a Silver reflector filter on the lower half to increase the metallic look of the water.

(20,886 posts)Good call on the water, and you are making me lust after a really wide angle lens.

(19,459 posts)It was half the cost of the Nikon 10-24mm, which is a good thing because I can't justify spending that kind of money.
That, plus the upgrade to the D7100 body, and I think I'm done spending on photography for quite awhile.
Although...my son-in-law has an Apple desktop with a large monitor. Man do images look good there as opposed to my laptop...😬

(20,886 posts)You can usually get a pretty goo deal on them for a lot less money.
I'm going to check out that lens.

(19,459 posts)Tamron and Sigma had ones that were comparable for about the same price, I think.
I checked dpreview and Ken Rockwell for reviews.
Good luck.
PS: is it raining up your way yet?

(19,459 posts)I think you got a new full frame body awhile back? It will work, but you'll only use a portion of the sensor (I think is the way that works).

(20,886 posts)But the D7000 isn't full frame. I don't think I can use a DX.
Adsos Letter
(19,459 posts)That's what the DX is made for. Should work fine unless there is another issue. It has an internal motor for AF.
