Beautiful baby girl, our first grandchild, Reagan Elizabeth, 8lbs. 9ozs.
Mom and baby doing fine. My wife will stay down there for the next couple of weeks, while I made the 9 hour drive home.
We are getting some rain; in fact, it rained pretty much the whole trip back.
Generations come and go. Driving alone for 9 hours, lots of things to think about.

(7,911 posts)I love playing with all four of my grandchildren.
I also love sending them home when I get worn out by them!

(7,911 posts)I have two grandchildren in their early twenties, and two under ten. Quite a spread. The young ones live a thousand miles away, but I join their family Minecraft server a couple times a week and chat with them in game while we play hide-and-seek or build castles together.

(19,459 posts)On the drive down south my wife and I were talking about how it must have been years ago, when families divided up and moved on to new lives, and perhaps never heard from one another again.

(149,627 posts)Lots of things to think about on that long drive home, all by yourself.
It's good to do things like that now and then. Clears out the cobwebs.
And major congratulations on your beautiful new granddaughter!
LOVE the photo!

(19,459 posts)The rain started at the top of Tejon Pass and I drove through it all the way up the central valley.
It was clear when I left La Jolla, but I talked to my wife a bit ago and she said it was storming pretty good down there so I hope you are getting to enjoy it.

(20,886 posts)We had a rip roaring thunderstorm yesterday with lightning and hail. It was real exciting.
The thunder was so close my house shook.

(19,459 posts)I could see lightening in the clouds ahead of me once I made it as far north as about Santa Nella. Rain had stopped by the time I hit the Altamont pass, but it was obvious it had been pouring.
Feels like Fall out there this morning.
I think I may drive up to Ashland, OR tomorrow.

(31,392 posts)That's quite a name for a baby girl. Do they plan a nickname?
My first born had two family names and we ended up calling him by his initials.
Lots of time to think on that long drive home!

Yes, a lot of time to think, and a nice rain most of the way.
Driving up to Ashland, Oregon tomorrow. Not quite as far, but should be nice.
