(2,016 posts)Looks like you're jamming on I-8 and SR-78.
Was this a trip, or are you from these parts?
Nice B&W pics, btw!

We are down here in La Jolla waiting for the birth of our first grandchild, who was due last Sunday. Taking day trips in the meantime.
Drove out to Glamis, then north round Salton Sea, then out through Julian yesterday.
I admit I like to drive.

(2,016 posts)Because one can stop anywhere/anytime if something catches the eye. I do enjoy a "drive to nowhere", and do it quite often up here in the Mojave. Just for the heck of it.

(19,459 posts)This is an OHV area. Lots of sand rails, buggies, quads, etc. tearing around out there, though I managed to keep them out of the frame.

(3,163 posts)But if you know the area, not so much. The dunes are vast, and only a small area has been set aside for off roading. There are huge expanses of unspoiled beauty, and off roaders respect them.

(90,778 posts)I would have liked to see photos of the OHV at play.
I am glad most is left untouched though.
Thanks!

Starting to look like a forced eviction on Sunday.

(31,399 posts)Apparently in late fall the town allows people to drive on the beach here. Yesterday, I had to
pay attention while walking Snowy because a Jeep was coming one way and another SUV
was going the opposite direction. Traffic? On the beach? Really spoils the peacefulness of the
empty beach. In summer the only vehicles allowed are beach patrols or Emergency vehicles.

On Edit:
This is actually taken at Nearby Ocotillo Wells and was color enhanced to more aptly represent it's name.

Big Duney hills there as well but lots of other features too.
