A few more quickie aurora shots

Daunting task going through all these photos, so I wanted to give you a little more. (I feel guilty I'm not next door helping my husband fill little holes in the wall, but this is more fun. )

Fisheye aurora. The river here is the middle fork of the Koyukuk River.

Aurora with the full moon behind clouds. The mountain is Mount Sukakpak.

Aurora with the Big Dipper. The light is approaching dawn at about 2:40 a.m.

800 or 1600 ISO
6-8 seconds
F/2.8 (actually I think these were 4.0 since I was using the 17-40 lens and the fisheye. Anyway, as fast as your lens will go.)
Auto white balance
Focus set on an infinity determined while it was still light. Then we held it there with a little piece of electrical tape.

and turn full-grown adults into excited little kids at Christmastime. These photos don't even do justice. It's like an ever-changing light show, and this far north, they go on all night long.

They make me feel as if I were there, too, to experience each amazing moment.

We can even enjoy the Great Bear/Big Dipper in the bottom image.

Thank you, Blue_In_AK!

PS: Is the fish-eye the 7.5 mm Canon FD, by chance? If not, no matter: the lens in your hands is a machine to infinity.

My fisheye is the Canon 8-15. I really like it because at the 15 mm end, it's like a super wide angle.
