Is it the one that doesn't extend out? I've got the old 100-400, but it gets kind of unwieldy whe it's all the way out. That's why I usually use the 70-200 with the 2x extender.

It does extend but, it uses a zoom ring instead of the old push/pull mechanism. It is a Canon L Series lens. While I like the fact that I can get away without a tripod, it must be about a foot long at 400mm (kind of unwieldy). If the weather ever improves here I look forward to throwing my 2x extender on it and seeing what it can do. It's too bad the full moon was last week.
