Boy did I score this weekend!

My daughters significant other gave me a Nikon D90 complete with an extra lens, an additional flash
H, some lens filters and a freakin' pro style tri pod! I am speechless which is rare for me.
Now however I have to make the leap from point and shoot (Sony dsc) to dslr. Excited and nervous at the same time

I've been trying to buy a ?something? DSLR from my daughter's mother in law, waiting for her to receive another camera as replacement from her husband, so just waiting. YOU've GOT IT!

My go-to camera is a Nikon D90. it has so many professional features. I'm sure you will love it.

Get a book that helps you figure out all the wonderful features of this camera. I did that and have been happy about it ever since i got it.

I have a prime lens that I use to take pics in low-light situations and a lens that is telephoto but also does great close up. Though I usually use the prime lens for close up photos.

The D90 is a great camera.

If your flash is a Nikon speedlight (SB600 or higher), you can wirelessly trigger it off camera with the built-in flash. One of the things this allows you to do is set the main flash off to one side and dial the built-in flash down by 1-2 stops. The main flash then becomes your key light and the built-in becomes the fill. You can take some pretty decent portraits this way with very little effort.
