Yes, the time limit is kinda 'limited' 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, week, etc. CurtEastPoint Jan 2015 #7

A week is too long in my opinion. Actually, I've considered running a questionnaire post asking the others if they think, like I do, that 3 days is too long. 2 days and nights would be perfect to me.
IMO
on the third day the excitement is gone, there rarely are more than a total of 2 or 3 more votes coming in per preliminary thread on the third day, and the outcome, it seems, no longer changes on the third day ever.

hosting. There is no set rule on how long to run the finals or even prelims. It is up to the host. Most do it for 3 days but extra won't hurt. Voting usually slows down after the third day but that doesn't mean it stops completely. I usually use the time limit on the poll so it stops on its own when I have held contest but that was for my convenience. (In case I wasn't near a computer when time was up.)

It should be more discrete: 5 days, 6 days, etc.
