If you are thinking about trying legacy lenses, you can do worse than the Yashinon DX 50mm. Most of them come with the M42 mount, which means mounts are easy to find. If using with something like a Canon DSLR, check for mirror issues. No such issues with mirrorless cameras like the Sony NEX, Samsung, Fuji,and Micro 4/3's cameras. The 1.7 should go for under $50, the 1.4 will cost more.

(60,074 posts)my 50mm lenses, the Industar 50-2 and the Yashinon DX. When I take the Yashinon out, I have adaptors on both ends so I can switch from Macro to standard view on the fly.
