Oakland Lake, fondly known as the duck pond, was a seasonal bird emigration stop. It was across the street from my mom's house in Queens.
We loved watching the geese, ducks who visited and the swans who lived there all year.
If I heard geese overhead right now, I'd cry.

The sunset (or rise? - you're on the opposite coast!) is quite nice, too!
We have so many geese here (the Canada variety)...a lot don't even bother to migrate anymore, they just stay here year round.
