I got up with the coming sun and decided to try and capture a few Hummingbirds. I was so happy to see them still here. I was worried they would leave before I got out of the hospital.

(31,399 posts)We still have a few visiting our feeders in NC, but I expect they'll be gone
any day now.

(90,779 posts)I hope mine stay a little longer. I've missed them. Have a new bird but I am unable to identify it. I'll try and get a photo and maybe the bird group can help.
I gotta admit to being tuckered out from my morning romp. I napped but I think I could use a longer one.

(7,350 posts)Hummingbirds! They're so fast and little and hard to take pictures of...I especially like the 3rd and 4th pictures. The first 3 look like a ruby throat, the last is a different species? It's my favorite, I like the detail and seeing its eye. You must have a fast camera, my pictures would just show blurry blobs!
Anyways, great photos and I'm glad you're back to taking photos!

(90,779 posts)The last one is a female. They don't have the red gorget.
Thank you! I love hummers.
I used a Nikon D3200 with a speed flash.

(90,779 posts)but it won't replace my D3200.
Thank you, CaliforniaPeggy!
Congrats on your win, btw! I missed it and I am sorry.
Well, I was sitting on my arse and hoping for a decent shot. lol Got tired of holding the camera so my hubby got me my mono-pod to help me....then got mad at the mono-pod. lol
But I was glad I went out this morning.

There are around 12 or so hummingbirds. That is the most we've ever had in our yard.

(121 posts)so I'll suggest you get them all printed and framed together in whatever the four-part version of a triptych is called. They're insanely gorgeous.
I wish days filled with happiness and love for you, and the beauty of the world (which you capture and share, so very well, in images like these).
