(9,314 posts)I was actually doing those photographs for my brother's friend. That spot is her daughter's favorite place and her daughter was going away to college and her mother wanted a photo to give to her as a gift. My brother and I spent about 4 hours there waiting for the train to come through and for different lighting situations.
I enjoyed it except for the rocking hanging out over the river and I hate heights. LOL I had to get over that to get my shot but I didn't get any closer to the edge of the rock than I had to. I didn't use to mind heights - I don't know what happened.

(131,143 posts)and might encourage me to venture out!!!
ohheckyeah
(9,314 posts)to venture out of my comfort zone and to spend the time to just sit and wait for the moments I wanted. One of my favorites is of a train rounding the curve into the valley.

ohheckyeah
(9,314 posts)when I have something planned out and I end up with something entirely different. I think this is an interesting and challenging theme - I look forward to your interpretation.

(149,719 posts)Can you give me some guidelines???
ohheckyeah
(9,314 posts)it to mean something related to travel or modes of travel, not the destination of the travel. Examples (at least in my mind) are an Amtrak train, a bus, a car, a person on a horse, a sky tram, suitcases, RVs, motorcycles, people going through security at the airport, Rolling Thunder, bicyclists, etc. Those are just things off the top of my head.
Does that help at all?

(9,314 posts)There are many modes of travel - camel caravans, donkeys going down into the Grand Canyon, hot air balloons, etc. etc. etc.

I've narrowed it down to 5: car, boat (2), subway, bike

(27,453 posts)I wash thinking of doing a close up of the plastic bag with all the liquids that TSA requires. Thought it might make an interesting abstract.
But that's not what I'm doing. 😁
mnhtnbb
(31,405 posts)by Heathrow security--second round, connecting--because he forgot
to remove his plastic bag from his carry on. And we both always have to
be felt up because of the titanium in our hip replacements.
This time, though, they took him away to a separate area where they made him
empty his carry on bag. My 71 year old, gray haired, Major, USAF, (Retired) bad guy.
They had a feedback device by the area, where you could press smiley buttons--green, yellow, red,
in response to how security was performing. It was so funny. An adolescent boy--whose dad got
escorted away to empty his carry on--was repeatedly pressing the red smiley button. I hit it a few times
myself. That would have been an interesting shot!
ohheckyeah
(9,314 posts)have been an interesting shot for sure.

(10,136 posts)One time the TSA just rescanned the carry-on after the bag was removed.
The other time the TSA did not notice the bag on x-ray or did not care, not sure which.
That's incredible! I haven't been through Heathrow in awhile. That treatment seems unnecessary.
It would have been a winning shot I'm sure, if they didn't confiscate your camera after you took it.

(22,380 posts)I'm in the rain forest in Costa Rica helping some friends with a project.
I'm shocked to be in rain and storms on top of a mountain almost all the time.
I'm not connected but a few min in a few ways every other day.
I took a photo I will enter at the day Costa Rica played against Holland and lost by one kick, I prob will enter it if I can. Looking at other options while i can.
I know a lot of you remember my Mom!!!
She is dying.
And I am crying telling you about it.
So I will come off this mountain in a few days and fly to see her if she is still with us.
I am so sad I cant stand it.
Though,
there always is life percolating under the layers of death, and I have a place where I may be able to connect for a while before I'm outta here. Then I will show you the rainforest a bit, and the wonderful hummingbirds that populate it.
It's a post I will dedicate to Solly Mack, who I am concerned about - she is going through a rough time and I can't check to see how she's doing.....
mnhtnbb
(31,405 posts)And there you are far away.
Looking forward to the rainforest and hummer photos. Hummers are my favorite
and I imagine you've seen some really exotic ones.
Sending you some hugs.

(8,039 posts)to hear this about your mom. I am hoping with all I have in me you make it in time to see her. When it gets too hard hold tight to your memories and love. Hugs.

(131,143 posts)I think of her and you often, and am glad to have 'visited' with you 2, on DU, when she was here. She will always be with you, I promise.
And thanks for the Solly Mack/rainforest/hummingbird post.
