My new friend, who showed up on my back deck about 7 weeks ago. He's getting his first trip to vet on Thursday because I think he's decided I'm a keeper. He usually spends the afternoon in a chair that I put a pad on for him, but I guess he wanted some shade last weekend.
He helped me through a really difficult time. So, I hope we're going to be friends for a while now.

(267 posts)I hope he can end up being as grateful to me as I am to him. He was pretty beaten up and skittish the first night I found him, but now he waits for me at the back door every morning and evening. He starts making noises if I'm late.
My last cat died over a year ago. I came home from work and found her on the bathroom floor. It was very sudden. I told myself that was the last stray I was taking in... but then this guy showed up at just the right time.

(18,219 posts)or a really cute kitty. He doesn't look like he was ever beat up and down on his luck....so you have already got him looking good. And he is apparently quite content. Glad he showed up just when you needed him....and he needed you.

(267 posts)I left the house to go cherry picking, and missed all of your replies. I suspect he and I will be good friends for a long time.
As far as a name, I'm thinking of Ghost, but he hasn't given me a lot of clues yet. Cat's usually name themselves, and I've been waiting for him to.

(356 posts)expected to adopt a kittie but when my boss needed to find a new home for his (named - Katt) do to family health problems he came to me because he knows my wife and I love furbaby's and wanted someone who would give her lots of love and care. Well, we explained that we aren't "cat people" but agreed to take her and find a new home. She was about 3 1/2 yrs old at the time and still here at age 15. We found two family's but she turned into a "biter" and was returned each time. She convinced us that we were to be her two mommy's. Ms Beasley had found her forever home with us. LOL

(267 posts)As of last Thursday, my little guy is inside now. I felt bad about denying him his trips to the flower bed, but I live in the city and there are just too many things out there that could hurt him. Especially now that I've reduced his instinctive cautiousness around people. He adjusted really quick though, and he's curled up on the floor about 2 feet away from me right now. He doesn't want to let me out of his sight either. He follows me around from room to room, and if he loses me he starts to cry. My neighbors must think I'm crazy because about 10 times a night they can hear me say "I'm in here!", followed by the thumping of little feet.

(356 posts)that sweet fella adopted you. It amazes me how cats are labeled "independent" but I know from Ms B that it isn't always true. Seems like you have the same situation. Have you thought of a name? I'm anxious to know what it is. Please share it with us. I wish you many years of happiness with your new member of the house.
