(131,370 posts)I have to lock up the cat food. I forget to do it just often enough to keep him coming back to check. The cats just ignore him. Although sometimes Millie growls before she ignores him.

(90,800 posts)If one got in the house I'd have a fight on my hands.
They are cute though.

(38,187 posts)I have at least 5 raccoons who visit my bird feeders every night unless the birds and squirrels do not empty them. They seem unafraid of me and always have. They just sort of look at me through the window then start back. If they spot my aunt through the window, though, they take off. I don't know why. She's quadriplegic and couldn't harm them even if she wanted to. Some nights, she says she probably would, because they make so much noise. She knocks on the wall to make them leave. Only now, they knock back. We also have as squirrel that knocks on the window and a bird that does it.

(31,416 posts)Reminds me of photos that our former neighbor--years ago, in Santa Monica-- a really well known glamour photographer,
Peter Gowland, took of all the raccoons he would attract to his yard.

(20,886 posts)I've been trying to think of his name for weeks now. I was in a photo contest, must have been in Agoura, and he gave me an honorable mention for a cat photo. I think it was for the audacity of entering a cat photo in a contest judged by a fashion photographer. I believe that was his specialty, was it not?
Anyway, I ran across the photo the other day and have been trying to think of his name ever since. Serendipity.
Oops, just caught the "glamour photographer." But you get the picture
so to speak.

(31,416 posts)Hubby lived across the street from Peter and Alice when we married in 1985. She's still living and one of their daughters sends out
a Christmas letter for her. They used to send the most fun and stylized Christmas cards with shots they would create of themselves.
It's been 26 years since we moved away from California. Peter did a series of head shots for me the year before we left.
Small world, isn't it?

I am going to write to the daughter and will include this most recent
reminiscence of Peter.

(20,886 posts)But what a fabulous legacy they left.
The letter mentions 1000 magazine covers and 25 books, as well as the Gowlandflex cameras.
It also says, "They loved to feed the wild animals in their backyard, swim in the ocean and jog or walk along the bluffs."
They were both amazing people.

(20,886 posts)Then they started coming in the house to eat the cat food.
Then they tore up my plants looking for delicacies.
Then they discovered the fish in my ponds.
That was the last straw. They are no longer cute.
