Even though I did not place in the finals in the contest for "Winter" I accepted the challenge to be in charge of the contest for "Spring".
The Winner Mth44sc and I made a deal. If I take over for him, then some of his photographic skills will be transferred to me by osmosis.
What could possibly go wrong?
Here, to remind you, is his winning photograph
Winter Carolina
The Spring contest starts June 1.
I'm going to give you this heads up early since I have to be concise and tight with the scheduling due to some other commitments.
We will open for submissions on the 24th of May, but you can send me photos beforehand, I will hold them.
It will not be a hidden name contest.
We will start the contest on the 1st of June and the finals thereafter.
We should be done with it by about the 10th or so - which is in all probability the time the June regular month contest gets good and going.
Since this Spring is pretty late in showing itself, at least in my neck of the woods, it may not be too late to take time and go on a photo walk. But, as you know, it can also be a photo you already have in your files, all that matters is that you took it yourself.
I look forward to doing this with you, please do participate, I want to see your conception of re-birth.

(46,436 posts)so I may actually have something current this year. Just in the last day, the green is showing on the tree branches and almost all my perennials are up. By next week we'll be fully leafed out.

I hereby announce that I have retired from competition. I'm am pleased no end that Miss Sarah insisted I enter that pic in the Winter contest and that it ended exactly as she predicted. I promise to drive you all nuts from time to time with pictures of my granddaughter - because clearly - she is the very best ever.
Enjoy the Spring contest. As you know - it is in the very best of hands!

(22,380 posts)I thank you in advance for helping me improve my photographs. It will happen as you follow through on your promise to continue showing yours in the future.
(I plan to call you out publicly should you seem to forget us)

(31,402 posts)I had a plan to get a specific photo for spring from here in Chapel Hill...didn't happen due to weather
and my schedule...so may have to settle for something else.
We'll be in Sweden when the contest opens for entries. Don't know
whether there will be a chance for a spring photo from London, Paris, or Berlin
beforehand!

(31,402 posts)Our youngest son is finishing a Fulbright scholarship year in Berlin.
We're seeing friends in France, our son in Berlin, and then taking
a cruise of the Baltic--3 days in St. Petersburg--and our oldest son
will be in Paris and Berlin at the same time we are.
It's going to be a special trip. But who knows if it will yield a spring
photo?

(22,380 posts)Spring Photo from Sweden. They are just barely starting at this point - I spent a summer in Sweden when I was 16. It was a pretty cool Summer for this German girl, I remember this very well.
