Related: About this forumI think I've asked this question before, but
I can't remember the answer. Is it worthwhile to update firmware? I never have on any of my cameras and I'm not sure of the advantages.

(9,314 posts)1. Good question.
There's an update available for distortion control on my camera and I'm just a bit leery of doing the update.

I'd do some research first though, see how it's going for others. Often times the firmware will fix a bug or add a new feature.

I always wait a month or two to see if there are any problems being reported.
While the major changes get documented, sometimes some minor changes are not mentioned in the documentation.

I'll have my guy update the firmware. He knows what he's doing; I don't.

You just need a fully charged battery and a card reader.
