The quality of the cameras in a variety of phones is improving and with the added ability to edit and publish on the spot many people now prefer a phone over a P&S.

Why do you think wifi connectivity in P&S's is such a key feature now, because manufactures know that they have huge competition from phones and their ability to access social media.

In the words of Chase Jarvis "The Best Camera Is The One That's With You" and these days it's usually attached to a phone.

but they keep getting better and better. It's so much fun to have a decent camera/tiny computer in the pocket! I still love using my "big" camera, but especially while I'm recovering from shoulder surgery, it's nice to still be able to take photos of my dumb plants

this is what is also putting photo journalists out of business.

Though that might be partial. We were talking about it, two or three MAJOR incidents where you actually need an actual reporter might stem that bleeding.

It's not just mobile photography contributing to putting photo journalists out of business it's also declining interest in print media. However, photo journalists who have embraced new media, crowd funding and other sponsorship opportunities have found a way to maintain their business.

I was taken by surprise by the first shot of the Calico cat. I had a cat that looked almost identical to yours. She was my best friend for 14 years and has been gone for almost a decade now. Crying now.

The cat with her is her father Thomas.

She's a very sweet cat, though she did nearly kill me in March (I'm pretty sure she didn't mean to).

I like (but not enough to go out and buy an iPhone 5s).

BTW, I like the kitty pictures. Kitties rule the web.

Rumor: Panasonic May Soon Bid Farewell to the Compact Camera Game —Digicameinfo

According to a report by Digicameinfo, Panasonic’s compact camera business might not be long for this world.

The report claims that the company is “seriously considering” moving out of the low-end point-and-shoot market, at which point Panasonic will repurpose its compact camera factory in Xiamen, China to produce cameras for other manufacturers.

From Digicameinfo and you have to love Google Translate

Previously, Olympus has also announced "digital camera to focus on an interchangeable lens and high-end compact," but it seems to become that Panasonic also take a similar strategy.

Recently, people, is adequate camera feature of smart phone camera because like many, low-cost compact uncharacteristic much is likely to become increasingly stringent. On the other hand, I seem to be able to expect to improve our products that feature ultra-high magnification zoom camera and Tafukamera, such as high-end camera.
