I love dragon flies and insects in general. They are hard to capture but always make wonderful photographic subjects. One of my goals with my new lens is to capture a really nice dragonfly shot.

A different lens. I was out shooting animals with a 70-300 lens. Next time I won't be so lazy. Lol

but my 28-70mm lens would allow me to get a much closer shot.
I also have been using a monopod a lot lately because I have been shooting in low light conditions.
I shoot a Nikon D-300

The 28-70mm lens didn't work out because I would have to get too close to the subject. That's fine if the subject stood still. LOL
I need to get a decent macro.

a stem, it flew away, I waited and it returned. It must be territorial.
