fresh mint water for a hot day...

lots of mint along my stream

[IMG][/IMG]

my garden this early am (stir fry for lunch?)... this is my 1st garden since my job ended (8 years now) it's not much (approx. 600 sq ft)but boy does it feel good to be growing things again... just got a new little electric rototiller and will be working up the entire backyard (between house and treeline) to ready it for garden next year... I will be wintering in Florida so excited about growing food year round (not so excited about actually being in FL but duty calls)

Love that shot. I'm just drawn to it.

The peas are silky looking. Yum!

Love the 'tater blossoms.

if I just had some rum for mojitos...

Ice
6 ounces light rum
12 mint sprigs, or spearmint, 8 roughly broken apart
6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
4 tablespoons sugar
Club soda
4 slices lime

...or mint julep

5 fresh mint leaves, plus a few mint sprigs, for garnish
1 teaspoon sugar
Shaved ice
2 1/2 ounces bourbon whiskey
Lemon slice, for garnish, optional
Orange slice, for garnish, optional
Maraschino cherry, for garnish, optional

Wow... talk about refreshing!

(I got the idea from an upscale caterer at a fund-raiser recently.... that was the prime non-alcoholic offering for a very hot outdoor affair and boy was it good)

Very nice photos!

I immediately made mint water, and we loved it. Then we added cuke slices, and we still liked it. Excellent.
And so are all three photographs.

But it looks damn good. Also have to admit I've never seen a potato blossom.

I don't get out much.

soooo refreshing on a hot day... cold, cold water that has been infused with fresh mint (I just pick fresh mint and put a few sprigs in the water and let it set in the fridge)

I know it is sold commercially but much better to make your own...

Didn't know they looked so pretty, and frankly, alien! The mint water in a jar reminds me of how Chinese in china like to drink tea. Quite often in China you will sea workmen on their breaks with these jars of tea just like that. They fill the jar with leaves and refill it with boiling water again and again throughout the day as they drink it. I've never had mint water, sounds interesting.
