One of the guys told me there was this one photog there that set up in the middle of the walkway and was yelling at people for being in the way. I find it amazing how worked up some people get over the cherry blossoms.

I took a shot or two of the cherry blossom trees outside my work with my iphone, nothing as lovely as these though but no crowds or other photogs.

Those are lovely photos though, congrats to your friend and thanks for sharing.

As to why we get so worked up, they provide an unusually lovely scene, and when one is among them, its beautiful and light, around the Tidal Basin for miles.

I was there Wednesday afternoon but didn't want to bump or brush the crowds, just look at people, all ages and many cultures; I was lucky and quickly grabbed a bench. Was with a former work colleague. We used to work not far, at 12th + Constitution. I wanted to admire people and blossoms.

Fortunately I didn't see the rude photog; had I done so, I likely would have given him/her a piece of my mind. MOST people don't set up in the midst of the crowd but do quick snaps and move on. My friend got his pics early morning, thus avoiding the crowds, which, of course, is what a real (and smart) photographer should do, professional or not.

He does a LOT of wildlife pics, and kayaks to add that to his repertoire, so there's always something of interest! I haven't been able to figure out what the reflection is.
