Related: About this forumAn almost colorless day
Friday started out as a day without any color. Low clouds and snow made it seem like I was shooting black and white. Very different.
Then a little color went a long way.

(4,589 posts)I have almost the same picture from Friday! I love your red bird in the tree. There was not a bird to be seen when I was out Friday except for the ducks on the pond.

(14,807 posts)remind you of Maine? Grey?
ManiacJoe
(10,136 posts)The amount of snow would be more from my childhood. Due to climate change, Maine does not get the snow like it used to.
I would attribute the grey more to the camera's exposure meter, but it does look to be a heavy cloud cover.

(14,807 posts)in the air. The winters here used to be dry and nice. Now they are more like Chicago with the moist small dense snow that feels that it is full of lead. Geeeze. I thought Maine had a lot of snow......thought our snow here in MN. went Eastward now.

(10,136 posts)If it was not for man-made snow, there would be very few ski resorts left in New England.

(10,136 posts)Looking under the trailer, you can tell that there is not really that much snow there, 8-12 inches total?

(22,380 posts)so smooth.
The one in color is a nice shock to the b/w system, I would crop it differently.
Do you mind if I do?
It's one of my idiot-syncracies to re-crop stuff at times.
I'd like to see your take on it.
You may hate it
but it jumped right at me to crop the fence away.
You kept the part of the fence that mattered to me. I had liked the snow sitting on it and now I see the rest just got in the way.

(4,589 posts)Just for fun I went to the archive and found this one from summer 2011. Same pond, shot from the same end of it but facing a different way. It just occurred to me that it might be a fun project to photograph the same scene once a month for a year. I'm thankful I grew up and live in a part of the world that experiences all four seasons.
