Lucky to have a camera ready to take those pictures. I had a huge owl in my back yard on Saturday. I was in the shower and heard a very loud shriek, it repeated several times. When I got out of the shower, I looked out the window to see this owl in the tree virtually outside the window.

I didn't have a camera handy and when I got dressed enough to roam the house, he was gone.

Great shots.

Well it was really by design. The nesting tree is literally right outside my door. I should bring my camera every day for all the opportunity that presents itself, but then I'd never get any of that pesky work done.

Glad you enjoyed the shots.

It does have a habit of sweeping low, which all too often has them coming too close to your car windshield.

Does anyone know of any special significance these birds had to the Indians? Personally, there have been some eerie coincidences that have occurred each time there was a close encounter.

combined with the amunt of traffic that passes through is that I see far too many instances of what you noted. Very sad.

The regional native tribe are the Ohlone. There are references to the hawk in their mytholgy, but beyond that I'm not aware of any additional signifigance.

I probably would be getting much less work done if I had that outside my window.
