Looking for that answer I found this page: http://www.thepowerpath.com/index.php/power-path-home/the-power-path/moon-updates/519-full-moon-update-2-25-13

It didn't say if that was Jupiter, but I found the info worth sharing.

This page seems to say the moon is conjunct Venus, in the chart about half way down:

This chart: Void of Course Moon Table for February 2013:

Great picture, I use 580 when I go South, so I've been there.

I honestly didn't even notice that when I was taking the shot, and disn't see it until I was processing it.

The shot was taken at the top of the Dublin Grade. Great view of the Amador Valley and Altamont Pass to the east and Mt Diablo to the north.

Glad you liked the shot.

"You are kidding me!"
It's so beautiful it is unearthly. And how strange that almost none of the colors "on earth" are golden. All of that is reserved for la luna.

It is an interesting contrast with all the ground lights leaning more toward the white scale. I tried upping the brightness a little to get more definition on the hills in the background, but what I gained in the hills I lost in the city so in the end I just left it alone.

Glad you enjoyed the shot.

First, this is the first time I have ever posted to the site.... And I am a complete novice, lol. Trying to expand taking pics to things other than the thousands of the kids. Anyways, I was driving to the store the other day and had to speed back home, called hubby and asked him to put my camera in our mailbox (I live in the middle of nowhere btw) and I would be there in 2 min. I was completely amazed at how BEAUTIFUL the sky was. It was the BEST moonrise I ever seen. Sky was filled with blues and pinks while the full moon shone brightly. Trying to capture the awesomeness before the colors faded I get this.....

I have a 200mm lens with a 2.8 aperture so it works pretty well in low light. You just need to experiment with what you have to see what settings you camera will perform at. Of course having a longer lens makes a bit of difference, but I've seen some really nice photos done with standard lengths.

It was a great moon the other night, and I'm glad you enjoyed my impression of it. Welcome to DU!

I love the contrasting colors and details of your shot. It was a neat moon. Here was my other one with the 50-200mm

But see the more I changed the settings to get the moon to stand out more I lost the pinks and blues. Of course the second one was taken later but all I kept gettin was pretty moon OR pretty sky drove me NUTS bc I wanted both. I probably took 50 pics lol but anyways thank you
