I can't believe what I did this morning. I'm driving in to work and I stop to take some photos of horses near my house. I put my D300 back in the bag but don't zipper it shut. When I got to work I opened the shop, went out to my car and grabbed the bag. Don't you know my camera falls out on the concrete and my tamron 70-300 lens just snaps in half. I was in shock. More afraid for the camera than the lens. When I calmed down I checked the camera and it seems to be OK except for some nicks. The lens went to the trash.
Lemonade...I decided that this was a good thoing because it pushed me to replace that lens which I was hesitant to do because of the money. I thought screw it and ordered a nikon 70-300 from B&H and am happy about it.
One from this morning.

(4,756 posts)Mac-v-PC shouldn't matter much anymore since we all use the same gamma these days; I find that the first day or two of shooting with a new sensor always looks off, until I get a chance to sit down with EZColor and get everything in line.
Also make sure your uploads are in sRGB, Adobe RGB gets real screwy when you try and put it online.
Also - beautiful shot! Colors look great to me.

(25,592 posts)Helps to keep out the dirt, if nothing else. A clean bag inside, means less fuzz on the lenses and cameras. Less chance of getting dirt on the sensor when changing lenses.
I believe in lens covers on both ends of unused lenses, too. I've seen too many photographers just drop them, uncapped, into their backpack, or whatever they use, to deal with later.

(9,000 posts)I won't make that mistake again. I need to slow down. But hey, I got a new lens and I will like the VR feature.

(9,000 posts)The truth is that I was wanting to replace the Tamron I had but didn't want to spend any money right now. The decision was made for me. I will like the VR on the new lens.

(90,779 posts)But since the camera seems to be OK I was mourning the lens.
Glad you like your new lens. I got a 55-300 for my b-day a couple of weeks back and I love it!

I had been drinking on the island all day and on my way back I was in a hurry at the security checkpoint on the ship and dropped my whole rig. You should have seen the look on the one woman's face!
No issues so far, thankfully...
At least you got lemonade out of it!
I would be making 70-300 2.8 L IS lemondade...

(4,756 posts)Unzipped bag and all, spang went my 18-70...it was actually still usable, but the extension tube was amusingly crooked and it had some horrid vignetting on the left. Picked up a Tamron 18-270VR on the relative cheap at B&H and I never looked back..
