As some of you know I have a love-hate relationship with the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. I keep trying and that evil bird keeps mocking me.
So...I saw something flying. Wasn't sure what it was.
Not great but I just wanted to share this with you. Even though the shot is blurred, I think that evil bird is graceful in flight.
It landed here and this was the best shot I got of it.
I'll keep trying.
Some other shots I got.
Pine Warbler
White-throated Sparrow
American Crow
Cabbage Flowers
Time for lunch
This is a very brave bird (Chipping Sparrow). Never shies away from me and often lands next to me.
All done.

(60,018 posts)they, and the Yellow Rumps (Myrtle warblers) are very reliable on our suet here in the winter.
Warblers are kind of a challenge/passion for me - in my whole bird watching life, I've not seen all that many - Black Throated Blue, Blackburnian, Yellow Throat, Hooded and Redstart here in my yard in Raleigh, and Black and White and Black Throated Green at Ocracoke Island. I hear far more than I see!

Thanks, NRaleighLiberal.

(46,436 posts)The redpolls are still flocking around here like crazy, but they're such skitterish little things, it's almost impossible to get a clear shot, especially when it's cloudy and the light is low. I think you did a great job with these photos.

(90,779 posts)My goal is to eventually get a clear shot of that evil bird. Gives me something to aim for. (hehe)
I found a woods where several live so that will increase my chances. (or not)

(90,779 posts)I got a new lens for my b-day and I played around with it today. This weekend I'm taking it deep into the woods and see what I can see.
Got these today.

(19,459 posts)The sapsucker landed on the tree trunk looks like he's gloating (You can't fly can you, Solly Mack?).
Oh, and take care around that Chipping Sparrow...he looks intent on leading you astray.
edit: ...punctuation matters...
