Related: About this forumHow old do you have to be to post a photo in the Photography Contests here at DU?
Do you have to be a DU member?
I ask because my 17 year old granddaughter is a gifted photographer (if I do say so myself!) and I'd like to see her get a bigger audience for her works. I also think she would learn a lot by posting/reading posts here. She would get excellent feedback and direction...

(25,592 posts)I don't know of any stated age limit to be a member of DU.

(20,886 posts)And there's certainly no age limit in the photo group. I look forward to seeing her work. We're a gentle group and very supportive.

(63,912 posts)too overwhelming for her. I hope not, tho...because I don't think she'll face a lot of nasty stuff, just warm vibes from a supportive community...

(8,039 posts)photo group and we would love to see her works, answer questions and even ask some of our own. Her ability to post would be the same as anyone on DU with all the same constraints. I find this group to be one of the best, safest places to share and learn the art of photography.

(8,039 posts)since she is underage I have no problem with you posting them with her permission. It has been done before. As for the contest, you do know if hers won you would have to host the next contest. I would leave the allowing or not to the host of the contest you might enter as they have the last word on the rules of their months contest. I would say that if she started posting a lot of photos (through you) and participating it might be to her advantage to join DU and post herself. She might get more out of it. The photo group has been a great place to learn and wonderful at building self confidence.

You are right, tho. Some here might get some insights. Not me, however. I do not have that talent altho I sure wish I did! I am in awe of all of you in the Photography group!

(8,039 posts)can I just share a couple of my favorites. It is scary no matter your age to just put yourself out there for the world to see and comment on so go slow and give her time. You can also let her know that as of now none of us would have any idea who she is beyond a CTyankee's granddaughter. Even her online life would still be private beyond the photos.
