About 15 years ago I read a great story about a Down's Syndrome girl who loved his music and her experience seeing him in concert and meeting him. It was so touching.

3. Menieres has a wide range of symptoms.

I was diagnosed over ten years ago. Hearing loss is a secondary symptom. Menieres victims suffer debilitating vertigo that can render them homebound.

I had ear surgery to reduce pressure in my inner ear. While it stopped the vertigo, I lost 95% of my hearing in the left ear. Fortunately, the disease never migrated to my good ear. I use "crossover" hearing aids when I am in social situations that are more comfortable in talking with people on my deaf side.

Menieres struck astronaut Alan Sheppard after he piloted America's first short sub-orbital flight. He was unable to pilot future missions because of the risk of vertigo. After having an endolymhatic shunt placed in his ear (same surgery I had), he was returned to active flight duty and landed on the moon in a late Apollo mission. Sheppard did not lose hearing in his experience.
