Singer 2.5 Hours Late For Gig, Cites "Energy Alignment" Problems

Guardian.com: Musician Lauryn Hill...was two hours late to a show in Atlanta...(She) issued an apology on her Facebook page...

“The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn’t easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others,” she wrote. “Because I care so deeply about the artistic process, I scrutinize, have perfectionist tendencies, and want space made for spontaneity, which is not an easy process, with the many moving parts on the road...”

Not safe for work -- try that "aligning my energy" stuff the next time you're late, and your boss might decide to "align" your job with another employee!

The show had been due to start at 8pm. Hill reportedly arrived on stage at 10.20pm and at 11pm her microphone was cut due to the venue’s strict closing time.

Many in attendance expressed their outrage about the situation on social media...But many defended the singer, noting that Hill is known for her tardiness. In 2014 she kept an audience in London waiting for up to 90 minutes.

She broke the personal best record she set during an Olympic year? Congratulations, pass her a gold medal!

AtlantaBlackStar.com: The (promoter's) director of marketing...said this is the first time they have ever had to refund fans in this way...

Fans will be able to get ticket refunds at the point of purchase online through...Ticketmaster...Live Nation...Groupon...(and) the Chastain Park box office...in person at the next event, which happens May 20.

...Rapper Talib Kweli came to the Grammy winner’s defense...(tweeting) "I would not recommend an artist consistently be late. But if they are, so be it. Art should be unpredictable."

Fine -- then don't charge for YOUR gigs from now on, and live on "predicting" what your fans will pay on their way out!

Very disappointing, since I recently recommended her album over Beyonce's latest...

From about halfway through to the end I was muttering to myself, "How'd they like it if we paid on the way out, huh?"

Then I got to the end and I was all, "Hey!"

2. The list of regulary tardy musicians is endless

And I totally get the 'Energy Alignment' thing. Most musicians just 'phone it in'. I admire someone who has a spiritual connection to their art.
