Stan Getz and Bossa Nova.

Getz's seductively lyrical playing suited bossa nova ( which was a gentle reworking of samba polyrhythms) so well - it was truly a perfect marriage. And every time he comes up in my playlist, I have to give him a solid listen for an hour.

Getz kind of creeps up on you, which is probably why I like him so much. Coltrane was edgier and more a risk taker, while Getz lets you go with the flow until you find yourself swept under the riptide.

and one ambiguously titled CD anthology with 16 other Bossa Nova tracks on it. It's great music -- you describe it to a "T".

Thanks for the reminder. I put it on for the afternoon.
