Best Rock N Roll Vocal Performance.... EVAH!

The inimitable Steve Marriott. If I could pull this off, I'd consider myself talented..... The rawness of his voice. The way he could ride that limit of his voice breaking and and not go out of tune? My God man. I'm in awe every time I hear this. RIP Steve. Thanks for being such a huge vocal influence on this fellow sinner!

Do NOT misunderstand me. Huge, huge, tall respect for Freddie. But Steve's soul influence reaches me far deeper than Freddie ever could. Ain't that the beauty of music, man?

Now stop polluting my thread! (Shaking fist)

years ago I was watching THE LAST WALTZ on TV with my brother, the best singer in the world...Emmy Lou and Levon Helm sang Evangeline...in the middle they switched harmonies....I said "Jack how did they do that?" Jack "Talent, Jody, talent."

It is a gift GLAM, and you got it !!

Hearing Rockin the Fillmore was a turning point for me. I was 14 when it came out. Great stuff.

From the LP "Smokin". Post-Frampton. As a singer couldn't care less. Actually, better for me. Less Frampton = More Marriott vocals. Unfortunately born in the wrong decade. Missed out. Died before I discovered him.....

I got to see them once at Cobo Arena in '73 with Clem. Great show. One of the opening acts was Roxy Music. Saw Frampton several times. Once with Frampton's Camel, once after he hit big and once with Ringo. Marriott's voice and Frampton's playing opened my eyes. I'm 62 and I still get to play live music. As long as my fingers hold out.

11. So many of my influences (believe it or not) were before my time or died before I got a chance.

Born in '71. Never got to see Zeppelin, Free, Humble Pie, The Faces, Otis. But i'd give my eye teeth to see Steve Marriott live....
