(18,640 posts)With a few notable exceptions like Urban, most country music artists are just pretty boy karaoke singers instead of musicians. After all, the main instrument in a typical country pop song is the human voice with the singer idly strumming a guitar with no strings.
That reminds me, country music is so shallow these days that no famed artists are homely. Just name one. It's not allowed commercially, and look what happened to The Judds when the daughter put on some weight. Mom had to kick her to the curb and go solo. Even Dolly would be a has been if she ever stops getting work done or a reduction.
That was scathing, but fun. Don't take me too seriously. I just prefer the old stuff like Jerry Reed and Marty Stuart over this new crap they misnomer as country. ♫

(11,802 posts)Couple years back when I was a contractor, the 20 something kids I was working with would put on a country statiiin if they we're driving. (Ya know, as Ray would say, "Rules of the road bubbs. " It was all beer, truck, girl, jeans, beer, truck, girl jeans. I learned to put on headphones if they was drivin.

And that song will always bring me back to the East Drive-In, summer of '77, when I first heard it at the showing of Smokey and the Bandit.
