I would kill hundreds to have his voice!

I'm pretty damn good at what I do. I've had people taking notes on my abilities as a front man at gigs (that's no shit). But damn! I'd kill to have Steve Marriott's voice!

Allow me also add ... how the fuck have I never known that Peter Frampton is English? Completely trips me out that I never realized that.

And yeah, Steve was a pretty damn good singer ... good player too.

As an singer in an alt-rock band or two during my lifetime ... Jeff Buckley or Chris Cornell would be my Steve Marriott.

I saw Iggy recounting this on a documentary titled”The Life and Times of Steve Marriott” or something to that effect.
And he says “But I’d have given anything to have his voice.”
And goes on to say, quietly,”And his looks.”

The Rock and Roll H of F did a little finagling to get him in a few years ago. The support wasn’t there for Humble Pie so they inducted The Faces, Rod Stewart’s backup group.
Steve had never played for the Faces but had played for the Small Faces. So with that very slim thread Steve made it into the H of F.
I’m sure a few of his contemporaries saw the injustice, righted it, and the induction focused mainly on Steve.

The Small Faces were indeed inducted along with the Faces. They never should have been lumped together, what with the Small Faces being the truly influential band, but Steve was inducted as a Small Face. Rod didn't show for ceremony, probably because he didn't relish the thought of singing a Small Faces tune or two and risk comparison to a young Marriott, who was probably the greatest white soul singer ever.

Humble Pie will never be inducted.
