(3,064 posts)Apparently Galway Girl is extremely popular in Ireland, with a status of a modern folk classic.
And both versions are knockouts. The Mundy version is much more listened to.

(3,064 posts)Had to undergo two knee operations first, one a patella and the other a total replacement.
My brother married a Thai girl and has lived there for twenty years so Im not just going over there cold.
So next year Im planning on vacationing in Europe. First Slovenia and then Romania. Eastern Rurope is quite affordable.
And maybe a while in either Paris or Munich. Leaning towards Munich.
And then wind up in Ireland, definitely Be in Galway. Im a big Steve Earle fan and will make it a point to see him there. He tours Europe as much as he tours the States and always hits Galway so its not at all far fetched.
They love him in Ireland and he really loves it there. Hes had The Pogues back him up on several studio recordings.

(33,643 posts)One of the very best on Transcendental Blues ... the other lilting Irish tune, also recorded in Ireland from that album, Steve's Last Ramble ... is also a fave.
Great choice!

Dudes very versatile.
