Beginning to think Wilco is a national treasure!

Great show, Jeff and Co!
Wish there was more shots of Nels playing that beautiful slide melody, but ... that's nitpicking.

(2,844 posts)I was always more of a Jay Farrar/Son Volt fan after Uncle Tupelo and Wilco was so prolific, I kinda lost track. Always thought Tweedy was great though.

(33,643 posts)I've listened to their 4 albums so many times it's ridiculous. Esp. Still Feel Gone and Anodyne. I had Anodyne before they even broke up.
Although I still love Jay and Son Volt (I even saw Jay solo on the Sebastopol tour), Wilco has been the far more adventurous outfit vs. Son Volt. Jay's voice gets tiresomely 'samey' to me after an album side (unless it's Trace or Wide Swing Tremolo). Jeff's voice isn't wildly more dynamic or anything but he does vary it up a bit more, and the band definitely does, so ... there's a LOT more variety to Wilco's music.
If you've never listened to what I would call 'the trilogy' of Wilco's Sky Blue Sky, Wilco (the Album), and The Whole Love that consecutively came out I think 2007-2013 or so ... you really should ... all three are great records. So are Being There and Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Here's one of my Sky Blue Sky favorites ...

(2,844 posts)Interestingly I do have copies of Being There, Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but none of Sky Blue Sky, Wilco (the Album), and The Whole Love. I will check them out!
