So please excuse me.
Ive decided Im going to get something out of this situation and one of those was picking up the guitar again.
Any suggestions for FREE on line tutorials or apps?
Fender had a free thing going but apparently I was too late. Their free tutorial requires setting up payments for when it runs out.
I am looking for strumming and chords I guess. Picking at it (from my past attempts to learn) just doesnt seem in the cards for me. Ive tended to learn a few Christmas songs every year but then I put it back down. Im committed to at least 20 minutes a day because I definitely have the time.

And they go on from there. I saw at least seven of them.
And there's a million more people like him doing the same thing. Just keep looking. There are sooooo many it's actually a little overwhelming...lol.
Happy Hunting!

Thanks.
Funny story. I was tuning going between my old battery powered one (I like the sound better) and a tuning app. My A string pops. Great.
My daughter is sitting here and she encourages me to just retread it an tighten it. What could it hurt? Just then the end of the string, which is like a small fishhook, goes into my left index finger and loops back out. Im hooked on the guitar. I got it out but now I have a Band Aid in it. So much for guitar today.
Wonder if we have any bagpipes around here. 😆

(47,558 posts)Also, your story made me do an inventory of replacement sets of strings. 1 set of acoustic, 4 sets of electric, a few orphan strings for god knows what reason as I've only replaced strings by the setfull for decades now, and 2 sets of bass (aka, two lifetimes' worth...lol). Thanks for making me check.
Far as fretting hand finger injuries go, I hear ya. I've got a cut about halfway down the front of my pinky finger, just above the big knuckle. I don't really lay my pinky finger flat down on the fretboard a lot. So while it's killing me, it's way easier to work around that than to work around an injury to the index finger.
