3. My FIRST concert !

I saw Chicago in Cleveland in 1968. At Public Auditorium. It was their first trip to Cleveland. I can still remember the crowd going wild at the opening strains of "25 or 6 to 4."

4. I never got to see them live, but that Chicago Transit Authority album still rocks ...

Saw the Beach Boys, Hendrix, Todd Rundgren, The Raspberries, John McGlothlin, Mountain, McKendry Springs, Cactus .... at Public Auditorium.

Went to an anti war demonstration being held there on April 15, 1970 while there was an ITT stockholders meeting going on inside. The first time I got photographed by the FBI.

5. You know that they HAD to change the name from Chicago Transit Authority to just

"Chicago" after the REAL Chicago Transit Authority took them to court, right ??

I remember seeing the Raspberries at the Agora Theater. They hadn't gotten that big break yet. Eric Carmen's father's money went a long way before success.

You mentioned Cactus. I was BF with a guy who promoted various acts into Cleveland music venues. He got me into see Cactus with Grover Washington, Jr -- a GREAT sax man, Dreams -- one of the BEST jazz-rock bands EVER and Uriah Heep. The Heep was insane. During a quick break, I remember Mick Box came out and sat down on the edge of the stage and just jammed by himself. He was a phenomenal guitar player. What a night !!

6. I saw Caravan at the Agora, New York Rock and Roll Ensemble ...

7. I saw a bumper sticker the other day --

"I may be old, but I got to see all the GREAT bands."

9. I feel really bad over how many I don't remember ....

Saw T-Rex at the Allen Theater the night before I went into the Navy Feb 2, 1972.

Saw Jefferson Airplane at the Allen, for $5.00 in '68.

Roadied for Wild Butter when they opened for Jefferson Airplane for a little tour in'68 of colleges in Pennsylvania.

8. There was another venue downtown, it had a man's name ...

Saw Damnation of Adam Blessing when David Alan Coe was in it.

Saw David Alan Coe at a coffee house in Akron called the Avalon, they passed the hat to pay him and only raised a couple of bucks in spare change.

16. Thought I was going to see David Alan Coe at a night club in Roanoke Va.

He and the band had started their first song when a fight broke out in front of the stage and the whole place went up in front of him. They exited the back of the stage and that was the end of the performance.

17. Sometimes with Coe the fights start onstage ...

I was at a Kinks concert in Providence with Bad Company opening. Someone in the front row kept yelling for the Kinks, and when the set was over the bass player jumped down and tried to home run the yeller's head with the bass. Got him hard enough I heard the thump about 15 rows back, October of '72.

Saw Poco w/ Jim Croce opening, and Mothers of Invention at the same theater earlier that year. Great place to hear a band.

18. Yea, this was close to after I got out of the Navy in '77.

Its a real shame because we were literally within 25 feet of that stage with a couple of pitchers of beer when that fight broke out. Could have been a hell of a night.

21. I remember when Black Flag

Used to play in places not much bigger than my living room. I was so close to Henry Rollins that his microphone cord nearly dragged over my feet.

One of my boyfriend's pals was a roadie for Black Flag back then, so we got to see them quite a bit. Henry was always...strange. Super-smart. But...strange.

11. Class of '77

That was a long time ago. I remember listening to a lot of YES and ELP. At some point I discovered Dylan and haven’t been the same since.

When I was in junior high, I was a big Elton John fan, but that’s the only time I can remember having a favorite while I was school age.

After that, I remember all the songs and albums I liked, but I don’t remember having one band I preferred above any others.

Too many great artists in the 70s to choose only one.
