Which he started very soon after he'd written it.

It's actually from 1993-94 era.

I'd previously heard a live Allman's version with Gregg singing so thought it was their's (which it sorta is) ... per the Wiki it was never an Allman's single but there is a 1994 Allman's recording with Gregg singing on the album 'Where It All Begins'.

Great friggin' song in any case ...

Thanks for posting this. It reminded me that I have an old Soulshine concert shirt that is pretty worn out and I meant to cut the design out and make a pillow or wall hanging or something with it and never did.
