(23,102 posts)So I've been pretty busy taking care of both of us, going to dr's, etc. Things are looking up now, my arm is ok and no surgery needed so very thankful for that. For the first time in 2 months I can go all day with no "sleeves" or support apparatus needed this week - yay.
Hope you are doing well too.

(11,801 posts)Spent two weeks in Minnesota. Not awesome. First day slipped on the ice, fell, tore my jeans and skinned the shit out of my knee. Then temps no higher than 6°. Came down with a horrible head cold last weekend. Wednesday my starter just quit. Had to have the truck towed. And got stuck in bad snow driving back home yesterday and a 10 hour trip turned into a 14. Other than that, life is grand!
Glad to hear you didn't need surgery! So sorry to heat about your son. Sounds brutal! 5 places? How'd he manage that?

(23,102 posts)He was out hiking, walking down a hill when unexpectedly he hit a patch of deep mud, foot sunk in over his ankle and he went tumbling and his foot went snap, snap, snap, snap, snap. He's getting his paperwork together to get the hospital charity and have his foot looked at again to make sure it healed right. He was a waiter so can't work until his foot heals and it's right and of course had no insurance.
Sorry you too were having issues with a fall, i t's so much more difficult dealing with these as a "senior" than when young. Being in 6 degree weather also sounds awful to this thin skinned Florida resident. Brrrr.

(11,801 posts)Although that number is getting frighteningly close. Fell in my garage a few years back. Landed on my forehead. Tweaked two vertebrae. Was off work for three weeks! My arms were effected. Pinched nerves. My forearms felt severely sunburned. My hands felt like I'd been bare knuckle boxing, and my palms felt like I'd used them to pound tent pegs. I was fascinated at first. And then just wanted the pain to go away.
I never worried about falls in my 30's!
Not exactly frail, but more than I was 10 years ago!

(23,102 posts)When you get to be 66, iife gets a little different, more challenging IMO. Now that I've retired, I'm going to 3 different exercise classes and walk 4 miles daily to build up my strength and get my back more flexible. Wish I had gotten serious about this when I was your age but was a workaholic then. Thankfully, I eventually got over that!
Enjoy your week-end.
