(493 posts)I've played folk/Americana for years. I was trying to influence my daughter (who with about 30 minutes of guidance achieved a level of guitar playing that took me nearly a year when starting out) to maybe give some room in her music "listening adventures" for some more folk/Americana and even string band sound. So I was out washing the vehicle and low and behold she came out, threw in a Mumford & Sons CD and a Lumineers CD....I thought "this is cool as hell, my 13 year old daughter is just as smart as I thought she was".
Not much out there that a father can share with a 13 year old daughter, but sharing in music is pretty cool. Give us some Avett Brothers, Lumineers and such and we are happy as can be.....I even toss in Pure Prairie League, The Band, The Byrds, Grateful Dead and some Dylan tunes and she can sing along with all the lyrics word for word.
