Hitchcock films were noted for their leading ladies. Almost always blondes. Eva Marie Saint was by no means an obvious choice for the N By NW role. But Hitchcock saw in her the "Fire and Ice" that his women were famous for. And she was great!

Astounding how much she looked like Hitch's classic girl.

And then other shots made her look like the other classic Hitch girl: the ones with glasses who never get the guy in the end -- the ones who kinda look like Alma! Hitch was kinda messed up...
