Ride 'em, cowboys! "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" is returning to the big screen for the first time in 40 years, but the legendary outlaws won't be in town long.
The classic 1969 western starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford will be shown in more than 650 theaters nationwide on Sunday and Wednesday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The limited run is part of the Turner Classic Movies' Big Screen Classics series, a year-long event that will return a different all-time favorite film to theaters every month. Coming soon: "The Maltese Falcon," "The Ten Commandments," "On the Waterfront" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

(16,987 posts)1. All right, that had me singing "One of These Things Is Not Like the Others."
I have never seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off and perhaps never will, so I'm not in a position to judge the movie itself, but mentioning a fun '80s movie in the same breath as The Maltese Falcon and On the Waterfront seems at best discordant!

(6,253 posts)3. I went to see Butch on Sunday evening.
It was every bit as good as I remember, and so much better on the big screen in the dark, instead of the little screen in the family room.
Paul Newman's eyes are otherworldly!
