For D.C. area classic film fans: AFI Silver Theatre's Holiday Classics, November 30–January 2

There's truly something for everyone this year on AFI Silver Theatre's Holiday Classics roster, as it offers everything from sophisticated comedy to slasher and sci-fi fare and stretches from the '30s (George Cukor's Holiday to the 1990s (Strange Days, from Kathryn Bigelow).

"But is there any Frank Capra?" you ask. Of course there's Frank Capra, as well as Barry Levinson, Ernst Lubitsch and Billy Wilder.

Of note: a couple of rediscovered seasonal movies from Hollywood's golden age, namely Holiday Affair (with young Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh) and Remember the Night (Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck, below).
