Laurel & Hardy in French! (on TCM tonight)

I'm watching "Les Carottiers" from 1931 right now (11:45-1:00 CST).

I had no idea L&H did a French language film! Their accents aren't great, but the physical comedy works in any language!

They've seen some L&H and like what they've seen (Babes in Toyland, and some random short films), so I'm looking forward to watching this with them. They're 12 and 10 (and my 10 y.o just watched the Dick Van Dyke episode that includes a skit with Van Dyke doing a pretty good Stanley - so she should be happy to see the real thing.)

I once read that the films were re-cast with actors who spoke the languages. And that in some 'lost' French versions the heavy was played by Boris Karloff (who spoke French),

Netflix has a number of L&H collections, but I don't think that title makes the cut. However, I've seen signs of other DVDs, possibly from another region, that contain the film.
