Tonys triumph over Trump

The Tony awards last night showcased America’s bright, creative, earnest, brave, talented and fresh Broadway stars. These people give 100 percent every day. They show that teamwork, perseverance, and hard work always win the day. These are American values.

Most of the show went without explicitly mentioning Trump while implicitly mentioning him with comments like” these terrible, terrible times.” The terrible times represent, for the American people, a time in which they are being attacked by their government. This government is run by Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and Trump. These terrible men are liars, thieves, schemers, cowards and the new kleptocrats. They want shortcuts over cooperation and work since they have never worked a day in their lives. The Broadway stars give to their fellow workers and strive to do their best. Trump and company are only in it for themselves.

Steven Colbert finally mentioned Trump by name. I suppose that he really had to do it, but I’d prefer that Trump never be “invited” at all. Kevin Spacey was so funny impersonating President Clinton, jokingly scolding Ben Platt, (actor from DEAR EVAN HANSEN) for replacing his wife on Time’s most influential person’s list. Ben then slouches in his chair as if he were sorry. Priceless!

In his speech, Ben Platt said, “the things that make you strange are the things that make you powerful.”
